DTI Group from Ohio, summer 2009

Short Term Mission Trips

  • Large Groups
Whether teens or adults, or a mix of both, we can facilitate your group of up to 50. If you are considering a group of more than 50, please call to discuss possible arrangements. While students as young as age 12 may come without a parent, groups heavily weighted towards younger age ranges must have an increased ratio of adults participating.

  • Small Groups
Groups as small as 8 may schedule a week of their own, smaller groups may choose to join with another already scheduled week.

  • Families and Homeschoolers
Turn your family vacation into a missions trip! If scheduled apart from another DTI group a modified schedule will pertain. Please phone for specific details on this option.

Great Value!

Overview

Since 1995, Cottage Cove has consistently offered high quality short term missions trips in Nashville. Our best advertisement comes from those who have experienced one of these trips. Small and large groups are welcome!

By special arrangement, all DTI missions accommodations are at a hotel in Nashville (complete with a pool). Your missions experience begins with, and includes, the Sunday evening meal and then continues for a full week, ending with breakfast on Saturday morning. All meals are provided for the week.

Starting on Monday morning, your day begins with your departure from the hotel at 9:00 am. At Cottage Cove you will start each day with a time of challenging Bible study with teacher Brent MacDonald. A curriculum will be provided for each paid participant as we “go deep” into the word of God and consider topics important to believers today. Come prepared to learn... Bible study is what you make it!

Each afternoon your mission experience continues with preparation for programming with the inner-city children who attend Cottage Cove, and/or assisting in projects which keep our facilities in ready condition for ministry. Of course, direct interaction with the children is a highlight of the day! Your organized day concludes at 7:30 pm, at the close of the corporate evening meal. Groups may choose to plan further organized activities in the evening, or merely relax in the pool.

Missions trips are often synonymous with poor food. Not here! A continental breakfast bar is included at your hotel each morning. Beverages and snacks are served throughout the day. Amazing lunches are prepared at Cottage Cove under the supervision of our well-trained and professional staff. Dinner meals feature professionally prepared foods, catered to the hotel, or an opportunity to experience the cuisine of Nashville restaurants (i.e. Pizza buffet, Chinese Buffet, Mexican or a recent favorite, a Kurdish restaurant). Of course, all this is included in your registration fee.

DTI is focused on teens and adults, including seniors, though special arrangements are available for families. You can reserve your own week or choose to share the experience with other groups, if possible. While late spring and summer are prime DTI weeks, opportunities are available year round, including spring breaks.

How It Works (Timeline and Deadlines)

  1. Phone and set a tentative date or dates (best to see if they are available before making any plans). You can set tentative dates more than a year in advance!

  2. Phone or email and confirm your date (the earlier you do this, the better; dates are first-come first-served and there are limits to how many we can have during any one week). Have an estimate of how many you think may come -- we reserve a block of rooms based on this estimate (better to estimate a little high).

  3. Get your people confirmed as to who is coming. Have an application form completed for each person coming (see forms below). Send application forms to Cottage Cove with a $20 per person application fee. These should be received at least 2 months prior to your coming. It may be subsequently possible to add additional people but there are no guarantees of space and you must call Cottage Cove to make these arrangements.

  4. Upon receiving your application forms and fees, Cottage Cove will advise you of the Bible passages that your group with be teaching, enabling your group preparation time. (We consider two months a minimum for preparation time, earlier is always better).

  5. Get an individual medical release form and an individual liability waiver completed for each person coming (see forms below). Don't forget that all medical release forms must be notarized. Cottage Cove must receive these completed forms one month prior to your coming along with your completed team work sheet (see forms below), plus the balance of your deposit (this is the total cost per person without accommodations, less the $20 individual application fee: i.e. $250-$20=$230).

  6. A late fee of $20 per person will be charged for deposits and individual forms not received 1 month prior to your coming. Please understand that late registrations result in extra work for the Cottage Cove staff, not to mention potential scheduling and resource problems (i.e. meals etc).

Forms and Information Documents (PDF)

Please review the prior "How It Works" section for deadlines on when forms and fees are due at Cottage Cove. Additional information forms, polices, etc., are printable so that all participants may be aware of their contents prior to coming. It may be advisable to review some of these with your group collectively.

The non-accommodation portion of your registration fee is your two-part deposit (see the "How It Works" section) and is payable to Cottage Cove Urban Ministries. Fees for accommodations are payable directly to the hotel upon your arrival.
